A. It is the objective of the Commonwealth that all local public libraries receiving state aid provide access to their patrons to worldwide electronic information on the Internet. It is the intent of the General Assembly that local public libraries receiving state aid invest in the technology necessary to provide or enhance this service.
B. Included in this appropriation is $89,000 from the general fund in the second year to supplement the state formula aid distribution provided in Title 42.1, Code of Virginia, for libraries or library systems serving populations greater than 600,000.
C. Included in this appropriation is $175,000 from the general fund in the second year to supplement the state formula aid distribution provided in Title 42.1, Code of Virginia, for the Norfolk Public Library to offset extraordinary costs related to recent storm damage.
