"The Department of Criminal Justice Services and the Division of Forensic Science shall complete, and the Secretary of Public Safety shall approve, a Memorandum of Understanding detailing activities related to the Division becoming a separate agency.  The Memorandum shall include, but not be limited to, the transfer of existing equipment and existing personnel, including the five administrative positions funded by the division. In addition, the Department of Criminal Justice Services shall provide administrative support services to the Department of Forensic Science as necessary through June 30, 2006.   The Secretary of Public Safety shall provide a copy of the approved Memorandum of Understanding to the Chairmen of the House Appropriations and Senate Finance Committees and the Virginia Crime Commission no later than May 1, 2005."

Explanation
(This amendment requires a memorandum of understanding between the Department of Criminal Justice Services and the Division of Forensic Science to implement the provisions of House Bill 2216, 2004 Session of the General Assembly.)
