Authority: Title 2.2, Chapter 7, Code of Virginia.

A.1. Out of this appropriation, $581,593 the first year and $581,593 the second year shall be provided from the general fund to continue a statewide respite care initiative for the elderly and persons suffering from Alzheimer's Disease.

2. Out of this appropriation, $500,000 the first year and $500,000 the second year from the general fund shall be transferred to the Virginia Respite Care Grant Fund authorized by §2.2-716, Code of Virginia, to provide grants to community respite care organizations.

B. Out of this appropriation, $166,500 the first year and $166,500 the second year shall be provided from the general fund to support adult day care services at the Oxbow Center in Wise County.

C.1. Out of this appropriation, $400,000 the first year and $400,000 the second year shall be provided from the general fund to support local programs of the Virginia Public Guardian and Conservator Program.

2. Out of this appropriation, $100,000 the first year and $100,000 the second year shall be provided from the general fund for the administration of the public guardianship programs and for no other purpose.

3. The Department shall assess the current operations of the Virginia Public Guardian and Conservator Program to determine how the goals of the program can be attained on a voluntary basis. In conducting this assessment, the Department shall work with the Virginia State Bar and the Virginia Bar Association to develop alternatives which would not incur additional general fund obligations. The Department shall report the findings and recommendations from its assessment to the Chairmen of the House Appropriations and Senate Finance Committees by December 1, 2002.

D. Out of this appropriation, $60,300 the first year and $60,300 the second year shall be provided from the general fund for the Norfolk Senior Center.

E. Out of this appropriation, $22,500 the first year and $22,500 the second year shall be provided from the general fund for the Korean Intergenerational and Multi-purpose Senior Center.

F. Out of this appropriation, $110,250 the first year and $110,250 the second year shall be provided from the general fund for the Jewish Family Service of Tidewater.

G. Out of this appropriation, $90,000 the first year and $90,000 the second year shall be provided from the general fund for a companion care pilot program to be administered by Mountain Empire Older Citizens, Inc., the evaluation of which shall incorporate the use of performance measures.

H. Out of this appropriation, $250,000 from the general fund and $450,000 from nongeneral funds the first year shall be provided for SeniorNavigator.com.

I. The Department for the Aging shall continue the same level of support for the Pharmacy Connect Program in Southwest Virginia during this biennium that the Department provided during the 2000-02 biennium.
