From the appropriation in this item, $465,300 the first year from the general fund is provided for the estimated increase in the operating costs of adult and juvenile correctional centers, resulting from legislation to be introduced at the request of the Governor. If enacted, these proposals would result in a net increase in periods of incarceration in the correctional facilities. The funds shall be paid into the Corrections Special Reserve Fund, established in accordance with § 30-19.1:4 of the Code of Virginia. The Director of the Department of Planning and Budget shall transfer to the Department of Juvenile Justice that portion of the funds attributable to an increase in periods of commitment in juvenile correctional facilities.
